Vision
There is a growing realization among parents and the teaching community that there is a steadily growing gap between the type of education that is needed at the primary (and secondary levels) for overall growth and success of a child versus the education that is actually being provided. This is evident in Tezpur, other parts of Assam and indeed the entire North East in general. There are primarily three distinct components for overall growth and success of a child that need to be delivered by a primary/secondary level educational institute – first, excellent education to compete at the state, national and international levels for further education; second, sound understanding of Indian culture; and third, strong moral values. The first component will help a child compete for higher education that will further translate into building competence for a good job/career. The second component would help a child to have a socially enriched existence. The third component would provide a solid bedrock foundation for a child to become a good human being.
We’ll work with a singular minded focus to bridge this growing gap. We’ll deliver competitive education and a good base in Indian culture and values with due emphasis on our local virtues. Although English will be the primary medium of instruction, emphasis will be given on teaching other Indian languages also. This will ensure that our students will be successfully able to compete for the best institutes in India and abroad. This will also ensure that our students appreciate our rich heritage and culture most pronouncedly reflected in our diverse music, dance and dramatics. In the process we’ll have to introduce pedagogic innovations. We cannot be effective unless we change the existing - and often outdated – methods of imparting education. Innovations and changes always evoke surprise, curiosity and apprehensions – to help allay fears we’ll always strive to create proactive awareness and transparency in all communication. This will help parents and students embrace our pedagogic innovations with open arms. It may take us years to completely bridge the gap but we’ll not rest after that. We’ll set higher standards for ourselves and build Tezpur Gurukul into a center of academic excellence. .
Our institutional zeal to keep moving to our lofty goals is aptly summarized in these words: “The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep. And miles to go before I sleep.” - Robert Frost .
Besides satisfying the needs of our primary stake holders – students and parents – we will untiringly and unwaveringly strive to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of our other stake holders - teachers, advisors, management and all participants of our society. .
The following words best summarizes our institutional responsibility to our society: “A hundred times everyday, I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men living and dead. And that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and still receiving.” - Albert Einstein
